Calligraphy

Delving into Typography

Summary

I first used a traditional ink pen for drawing and painting in college. In a slow evolution, I branched out into calligraphy pens, inks, and even colored gouache. I unfortunately no longer have all of my works, but I'm happy to display a number for perusal.

Calligraphy as Art

We dabbled in serif, sans serif, and Blackletter calligraphy of three different nib sizes. We also researched noteworthy typographers to present on a weekly basis, and worked with black ink and colored gouache. I had blue and black for my pieces.

Something we worked on often was creating interesting and dynamic typographic visuals, making whatever quote or song lyric appear as visual poetry.
